• PROTECTING OUR SENIORS
I know what it’s like to care for elderly parents. And I’ve seen so many friends and family members struggle emotionally and financially with the weight of caring for their elderly parents.

But Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are doing everything they can to make it harder for senior citizens to get by. They’ve pushed plans to kick more than a million low-income seniors off Medicare. They paid for their tax cuts for the wealthy by taking money away from nursing homes. They’ve constantly blocked proposals to help make home health care more affordable. And Democrats in Washington seem powerless to stop this.

That’s why I have a plan to make senior care more affordable for New Jersey families. I will push for more comprehensive coverage for home health care workers. I will turn back Donald Trump’s devastating cuts to health care. And I will protect Medicare and Social Security so that seniors receive the benefits they’ve earned their entire lives.

  • MAKING HOUSING AFFORDABLE
I see the housing crisis first-hand as I advocate for people who are facing eviction in one of the largest housing markets in the world. There is nothing more devastating than realizing you might get thrown out and on the street.

Young people can’t afford to buy a home, and working families are being priced out of the market. New Jersey housing prices have risen nearly 50 percent since 2019. Even if you rent, excessive junk fees and landlord price collusion are driving up your costs. As someone who rents in the 11th District, I understand what it’s like to see more and more of your income go towards housing, wondering if you’ll ever be able to afford to buy a home.

Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress see this crisis – and they choose to make it worse. They’ve cut federal housing programs to the bone, putting nearly 200,000 Americans at risk of homelessness. Trump’s disastrous economic policies are making housing even more expensive. He’s even pushing a 50 year mortgage to chain people to a home they will never own and interest payments that will never go away. And neither party in Washington is making the crisis a priority.

As someone who works every day to help people keep their homes, this fight is personal to me. That’s why I will work to put housing in reach by spurring the construction of more housing, reversing the cuts to affordable housing programs, and going after unscrupulous landlords.

  • A PLAN FOR AI
Artificial intelligence has already changed our country – but Washington policymakers are barely paying attention.

AI offers lots of potential benefits, but the costs are piling up: massive layoffs as intelligent bots take workers’ jobs.  Skyrocketing energy bills as data farms suck up more power. Content creators losing control over their intellectual property. A small coterie of Silicon Valley tech bros are making a fortune while the rest of us deal with higher costs and job losses.

We need to ensure that today’s workers are trained for the jobs of tomorrow. We need to roll back Donald Trump’s war on clean energy so that we all have the power we need. And we need clear rules of the road so that AI doesn’t steal the work of writers and artists. That’s why creating a plan for AI will be one of my top priorities.

  • SAVING OUR DEMOCRACY
We are facing a crisis of democracy. One party has given itself over to a wanna-be autocrat who tries to rule by royal decree; the other party is too distracted by in-fighting  among out-of-touch incumbents to clearly communicate why democracy is worth fighting for.

I am not a politician. I am running because I see how this administration is destroying the American Dream and Congress isn’t doing anything to stop it. If we lose our democracy, we don’t get it back. And the people in power right now are simply not up to the task of saving it.

As your Congressman, I will use my national platform to speak the truth about the stakes we face, bring new people into this fight, fight to protect the Constitution, the rule of law and free and fair elections.

  • BAN CONGRESSIONAL STOCK TRADING
Members of Congress shouldn’t be getting filthy rich off the system. But today, it’s perfectly legal for them to buy and sell stocks in companies they regulate. Even worse, they can use inside information about government policies to game the market and make a killing.

People like us don’t have that privilege, and when the cost of living is at an all time high, the last thing we need are politicians making policy decisions that benefit their bottom line but hurt ours.

For years, members of Congress have refused to end this abuse of power. Even worse, some claim they can fix the problem with toothless “reforms” that don’t change the fundamental reality of the corruption.

No more half-measures: It’s time to ban stock trading by members of Congress.

  • TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESS
Getting elected to Congress is supposed to be a public service, not a lifetime entitlement. But too many politicians remain in office long after they’ve lost touch with the voters who send them there. At a time when most Americans have little or no employment security, getting elected to Congress is a lifetime gig.

Why? Because our system makes it easy for them to win again and again and again. Thanks to gerrymandering, most incumbents don’t even face a serious challenge. The result is a rheumatic and sclerotic Congress filled with lifelong politicians living well off our tax dollars and well past their sell-by date.

That’s why I support term limits for the House and the Senate. And that’s why I will term-limit myself because the last thing that the 11th district needs is an incumbent who doesn’t know when it’s time to pass the baton.

  • END PARTISAN GERRYMANDERING ONCE AND FOR ALL
Partisan gerrymandering is destroying our democracy. Not only do most members of Congress have little or no opposition from the other side, but gerrymandering encourages candidates to be the most extreme versions of themselves in order to win over the base. It’s no wonder that Congress is totally unable to meet the moment on the issues that affect our country.

This year we’ve seen Republicans in red states push through gerrymandering to protect their majority in Congress; Democrats in blue states have had no choice but to respond. We need to end partisan gerrymandering once and for all.

I will fight to end mid-decade redistricting and see that nonpartisan redistricting commissions take place in red, blue, and purple states. That’s the only way to make the U.S. House truly become the People’s House once again.
